Network Attached Storage System
I created a Network Attached Storage System based on VMWare ESXi, which aims to provide an efficient, secure, and convenient file management platform to meet the needs of large file storage, cross-device file access, remote downloading, file sharing, and media playback for households and small offices. The system can support multiple virtual systems simultaneously, including Windows Server and Ubuntu, and provide FTP, SMB, and HTTP file servers, as well as troubleshooting and problem-solving functions. Through this project, I demonstrated my skills in hardware assembly, virtual machine configuration and management, file server setup and user access control, media playback, and file sharing, among others.
To complete the project, I accomplished the following tasks
Set up the server from hardware to software individually.
Assembly hardware and cabling for the server.
Configurated Virtual machine hardware on VMWare ESXi.
Deployed multiple virtual systems including Windows Server, and Ubuntu on ESXi.
Set up FTP, SMB and HTTP File Server and assigned users’ accessibility.
Troubleshot virtual machines suspend and system failure.
